Clone International utilises the 'Dolly' nuclear transfer
technology which was developed in Scotland to clone the world's first
sheep, to commercially produce cloned cattle, sheep and horses for agricultural
purposes for both domestic and global markets.
Using Clone International will allow you to access the most advanced cloning
technologies coupled with some of the world’s leading scientists working in
this area to bring you the best results in agricultural animal cloning.
This enables elite animal breeders to:
1. Replicate their most valuable animals now for breeding
2. Use the Genetic Protection Package to lay down a cell line (for future cloning)
as insurance against future damage to existing elite animals.
In 2001, Clone International announced that it had been
granted an exclusive license from Geron Corporation USA, to use
the 'Dolly' technology to commercially produce cloned
cattle, sheep and horses for agricultural purposes in Australia and New Zealand.
In addition, Clone International has a non-exclusive licence to clone cattle and
sheep in P.R. China.
This means that Clone International is legally able to copy
animals in order to produce embryos and live animals and to genetically modify
cattle and sheep for agricultural application. Cloned animals produced in
Australia and New Zealand can be exported worldwide while those produced in
China are for domestic use only. Clone International has the rights to
clone horses in New Zealand and Australia.
Clone International is able to preserve the elite genetics
of valuable agricultural animals. For example the genetics of gelded race
horses or those coming to the end of their reproductive life, may be preserved
by the laying down of cell lines, for future cloning.
Clone International has established production facilities for cattle and
sheep clones in Australia and New Zealand for worldwide export and it is
currently establishing facilities in China for domestic consumption.
Clone
International is currently valued at US$10 million.
